The Department of Social Well-being at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs looks for to employ a tenure-track professor at the rank of Assistant Teacher in the location of Social Well-being, Black Life, and Racial Justice. This search is a collaboration in between the Department of Social Well-being and the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Researches as part of the campus-wide effort to increase to the difficulty of racial and social justice at UCLA, sponsored by the Workplace of the Chancellor and the Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost.
We look for a scholar who studies the U.S. Black experience and whose research study and mentor has direct significance for social well-being policy, practice and/or theory. In specific, we want to hire a scholar whose research study concentrates on several of the following locations: the effect of policing and criminal justice policies on Black neighborhoods, the well-being state and the effect of well-being and other social programs and financial policies on Black households, financial and neighborhood advancement in relation to Black areas; Black health and health. We are particularly thinking about a scholar who brings an important viewpoint to research study, mentor, and service– consisting of however not restricted to Black feminism, abolitionism, important race theory, Black diasporic research studies, Black history– and whose work has the possible to take apart systems of anti-Blackness and white supremacy and advance racial justice policies and practices.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Social Well-being, African American Researches, Sociology, Ethnic Research Studies, Location, Gender Research Studies, History, Government, Psychology, Public Health, or an associated social science discipline, have a robust research study program, and be prepared to teach and coach trainees at the undergraduate, Master’s, and Ph.D. levels. A MSW degree is invited however not needed.

The Department of Social Well-being presently hosts 19 tenured/tenure-track professors, 4 accessory professors, and 6 full-time Field Education professors. It serves around 200 MSW trainees and 40 doctoral trainees. Department professors likewise teach undergraduate trainees in the Luskin School’s significant in Public Affairs. The Department has a tested performance history of social and racial justice pedagogy. Most just recently, in partnership with the UCLA Luskin Black Caucus, trainees and professors in the department have actually produced, and are now carrying out, an Action Strategy to Address Anti-Blackness and Bigotry.
The UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs is an interdisciplinary school with extremely ranked departments of Urban Preparation and Public Law. All professors in the Luskin School of Public Affairs (consisting of the Departments of Social Well-being, Urban Preparation, and Public Law) have chances to take part in existing school efforts in race, class, and inequality; worldwide public affairs; digital innovations and information science; environment; and inequality and democracy.
