Description of Work

THIS IS A REPOST

Position is a Licensed Practical Nurse position located at Anson Correctional, in Wadesboro, NC, which houses approximately 2000 of minimum, medium and close custody female and male offenders. Position provides routine licensed practical nursing work in the care and treatment of patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, within a state correctional facility. Responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients, within the scope of practice to include, but not limited to, the following duties: screening, observing and assessing patients, providing basic wound care and personal care to patients, delivering routine respiratory therapy and other treatments, catheter and colostomy care, collecting vital signs and specimens, preparing and administering medications, administering/interpreting TB skin tests, observing and recording pertinent patient information, responding to emergencies, and assisting the Registered Nurse and Physician, as required. Individuals may be required to work any shift, weekends, and holidays.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Must be licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in North Carolina or in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. If possess a single state LPN license from a state other than NC, must apply and receive at a minimum a “temporary license” to practice in NC prior to hire date.
