Our criminal justice system is broken | Brett Diehl | TEDxCarnegieLake

Brett Diehl shares how and why universities should take a courageous stance on social justice issues. He also tackles the issue of mass incarceration in the United States and urges us to be cognizant of ways in which criminal convictions perpetrate a system of inequality and social injustice.

Brett Diehl is a senior at Princeton University majoring in history. For the past four years he has tutored students inside New Jersey state prisons with the Petey Greene Program. In addition, Brett served as president of Students for Prison Education and Reform (SPEAR), a group based at Princeton University, for the 2014 calendar year. He will be continuing his studies next years at Worcester College, University of Oxford as the Daniel M. Sachs Class of 1960 Scholar.
