CNN expert Van Jones credited the conservative motion with galvanizing support for criminal-justice reform throughout a Thursday look at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). [ http://ow.ly/NLEK30 nSx8V]
Jones’ remarks didn’t sit too well with Roland Martin.
Martin pushed back versus Jones’ remarks a “lie” since Conservatives are not leading the criminal justice reform motion. The host of #RolandMartinUnfiltered discussed, “Conservatives have separated prison reform and criminal justice reform”
Lawbreaker justice reform is a much bigger umbrella– now Van knows this,” stated Martin. He continued, “The reality is Conservatives are not leading the criminal justice reform movement– it is in fact progressives, liberals, it’s Black individuals and Brown individuals who are in fact leading the criminal justice reform movement.”
” When you speak about criminal justice reform it is not almost jails and who is going to jail. It’s likewise the sentences that are being handed out in these state courts. It has to do with who the District Attorneys are, it has to do with rescinding the folks who remain in prison on cannabis convictions. It’s also about how we are handling suspensions in school and the school to jail pipeline.”
