This report addresses the need for community support and involvement in the reduction of criminal opportunity, the delivery of public services, and government stability. The National Advisory Commission on Wrongdoer Justice Standards and Goals defines neighborhood criminal activity avoidance as activity outside the conventional criminal justice system directed towards decreasing criminal offense. Pointing out action by private residents as the heart of community criminal activity avoidance, the Commission prompts more citizen participation with area security, volunteer work, and neighborhood improvement.
