Application Evaluation Date The First Review Date for this task is: February 11, 2021 Departmental Introduction The California Policy Laboratory (CPL) creates data-driven insights for the public good. Our mission is to partner with California’s state and local governments to create clinical proof that solves California’s most urgent problems, including homelessness, hardship, criminal offense, and education inequality. We facilitate close collaborations between policymakers and scientists at UC Berkeley and UCLA to assist assess and improve public programs through empirical research study and technical help. CPL is the research partner for the Committee on the Revision of the Penal Code. The Committee is a new state entity that studies and recommends modifications to all elements of California’s criminal laws ï ¿ 1/2 from policing to sentencing to reentry and more. The Committee’s recommendations, based on CPL’s research, will likely act as the basis for legislation that could drastically revamp California’s whole criminal legal system. This position will be based at CPL, in the Institute for Research on Labor and Work at UC Berkeley. The Position CPL Research Associates are accountable for preparing and evaluating large administrative datasets; assisting design and implement rigorous research study designs, consisting of randomized control trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental research studies; preparing graphs, tables, and other display screens of research results; preparing reports and presentations; and establishing other policy-relevant deliverables. This position will work closely with the CPL research study group and the management of the Committee on the Revision of the Penal Code to analyze information from state and local criminal justice firms. The Research study Associate will apply a range of analytical modeling approaches to large datasets in real-world settings. Required Credentials Showed quantitative abilities, knowledge, and experience in data/statistical analysis, consisting of examining large governmental data sets.
