Position Summary: This position provides program support for the Division of Law Enforcement Services, Crime Information Bureau (CIB). The Bureau’s responsibilities include the management, maintenance and access to the Wisconsin Centralized Criminal History Database and access to other criminal justice databases. Criminal justice database access is utilized to perform multiple responsibilities of the CIB including maintenance of the database, conducting background checks in accordance with state statutes, administrative code, federal regulations and department policies / procedures. This position provides customer service to agencies and the public in regards to policies, procedures, and the laws governing the unit. Special Notes: The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United Stated and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9. A background check, including fingerprints, will be conducted on applicants prior to selection. This position may be eligible for telework to assist in mitigating the impact and potential spread of COVID-19. Qualifications: Minimally qualified candidates must have training, education, or work experience in the following areas: 1) Conducting research. 2) Providing customer service. 3) Advanced computer skills with word processing, databases and data entry systems. In addition to the qualifications above, well-qualified candidates will also have a combination of the following: 1) Knowledge of state and federal law and regulations as it pertains to criminal background information. 2) Providing customer service and account maintenance to online account users. 3) Testing new computer applications or helping to design new applications.
