2 guys who served years in jail for the 1965 assassination of civil liberties icon Malcolm X had their convictions officially tossed out Thursday.
Just one them, Muhammad Aziz, was in the New York City courtroom to hear a judge reveal his exoneration– and see long-delayed justice lastly done.
The other mistakenly founded guilty guy, Khalil Islam, went to his tomb in 2009 insisting he was innocent.
” I’m an 83- year-old male who was preyed on by the criminal justice system,” Aziz, who was using a mask, informed the court soon prior to he was exonerated.
New York City County Supreme Court Judge Ellen Biben concurred.
” I are sorry for that this court can not reverse the severe miscarriage of justice,” she stated. “There can be no concern that this is a case that weeps out for essential justice.”
Minutes later on, Aziz’ name was cleared and he was shaking the hands of his attorneys and hugging relative in the courtroom in the middle of loud applause.
