Start 2018 Highlights: John Jay College of Criminal Justice

On Wednesday, May 30, 2018, John Jay College of Criminal Justice held its biggest graduation to date, with over 3,700 trainees, 58% of them ladies, getting bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the College’s 53 rd Commencement events, held at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, Queens.

President Karol V. Mason led the event for the very first time and applauded “this sensational group of trainees who are all set to result modification at the regional, state, nationwide and global levels. They are intense supporters for justice, and they are prepared to take the reins.”

The College granted 3,110 bachelor’s degrees and 607 master’s degrees. The class consisted of 178 military veterans and the very first graduate of the Prison to College Pipeline (P2CP) Program. The trainees varied in age from 19 to 74, with 6 sets of brother or sisters and 2 sets of twins.

In addition to granting bachelor’s and master’s degrees, President Mason provided 2 honorary doctorates. At the 10: 30 A.M. event, Ronald V. Clarke, among the most essential figures in criminal justice research study, who assisted change the research study of criminology, got an honorary Doctor of Science degree. At the 3: 30 P.M event, Rashida Manjoo, was bestowed a Doctorate of Humane letters for her work as a worldwide human rights supporter working to develop females’s rights as human rights.
