The Bipartisan Summit on Criminal Justice Reform 2015

In March 2015, #cut50 partnered with Newt Gingrich, Donna Brazile, and Pat Nolan to highlight bipartisan services for decreasing imprisonment, reducing justice system expenses and producing much better public security results. A sold-out audience of more than 800 law makers and criminal justice leaders, together with 2,500 livestream audiences, collected to settle on something: it’s time to reform our damaged justice system.

Leaders throughout the political spectrum signed up with – from ALEC and Koch Industries to ACLU and the Obama Administration. Amongst the speakers were 3 GOP Governors and 10 members of Congress who took part in individual or by video. Included speakers consisted of: Attorney General Eric Holder, David Simon (The Wire developer), Donna Brazile, Labor Secretary Tom Perez, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal, John Forté (Fugees), Piper Kerman (Orange is the New Black author) and Sen. Cory Booker.

President Obama, himself, even made a cameo– by means of video.
