Bipartisan Summit on Criminal Justice Reform (FULL)

America’s criminal justice system is a human, social, and monetary catastrophe. The U.S. is house to 5% of the world’s population, however jails more than a quarter of the world’s detainees. More than 2 million individuals lag bars in the United States. As a country, we invest $80 billion annually on imprisonment, however almost half of those launched go back to jail within 3 years of release.

#cut50’s Bipartisan Criminal Justice Summit, co-hosted by Newt Gingrich, Pat Nolan, Van Jones, and Donna Brazile, will be a crucial turning point in introducing the bipartisan motion to decrease the jail population in America.

With Americans of all political backgrounds starting to question our stopping working jail system, the minute is ripe to catch the general public creativity with a strong vision for reform. The #cut50 Summit will raise tested reforms that are smarter, more affordable and more efficient along with tools that examine jail services and hold federal government firms responsible.
