The Minnesota Judicial Branch seeks to fill a Conservator Account Auditor position in the Conservator Account Auditing Program (CAAP). This position will work under the direct supervision of the Conservator Account Audit Supervisor to perform professional level financial conservator account audits within the Minnesota Judicial Branch to determine the adequacy of court filed accounts, reliability of financial information, compliance with statutes, Judicial Branch Rules, and Judicial Council Policy and Procedures.
The full-time position is classified as an Internal Auditor. This person will work mostly normal business hours, Monday-Friday. Work will be conducted predominantly in a remote/home office setting. Occasionally, work will need to be conducted in the office, upon request and/or for staff meetings. The Minnesota Judicial Branch offers a comprehensive benefits package. Example of Duties
The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform:
- Participate in, or perform all stages of an assigned conservator account audit including planning, field work, and report writing.
- Prepare written reports containing audit findings, observations and written recommendations for the Conservator and the Courts. Attending account allowance hearings may be required.
- Perform audit procedures in accordance with established Judicial Branch work programs and other professional auditing standards as appropriate.
- Identify and define issues with financial accounts, research criteria, review and analyze evidence, and develop audit findings and/or observations and written recommendations.
- Assist court personnel, parties and the public; answers inquiries; provide guidance and input with respect to account related questions for conservatorships.
- Train court personnel and co-workers, as directed, in specific task and job practices and procedures to improve and maintain performance levels by communicating timetables and quality standards for tasks; and provide instruction on policies and procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with reviewers and other CAAP auditors on identifying and defining issues.
Typical Qualifications
Any combination of education, training, and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below will be considered.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business management, finance or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year audit experience in reviewing, and analyzing financial documents, preparing work papers, and drafting audit reports.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently.
- Reliable transportation is necessary, as this position may require some travel to court locations across the State of Minnesota.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and skill in applying auditing and accounting principles, methods, and techniques.
- Skill in using a laptop with word processing, spreadsheet, and other business software to analyze data, complete work papers, and prepare reports.
- Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating against set criteria, drawing logical conclusions, and providing factual and convincing recommendations that are designed to persuade or stimulate action.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to ask productive questions without creating enmity and to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the Judicial Branch in a sensitive, tactful, and professional manner.
- Ability to draft and complete clear and concise written audit reports that convey objectives, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Ability to make decisions when analyzing information during audits, conclude on audits and issue findings and make recommendations on their findings to the court.
- Ability to analyze computer generated reports to identify opportunities for group audits and increased efficiencies.
- Utilize technology and adopt new business practices that provide for more efficiency in auditing. Recommend policy changes to better serve our customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of audit experience in reviewing and analyzing financial processes, preparing work papers, and drafting audit findings and/or reports is preferred.
- Two years experience and knowledge of accounting/finance principles is preferred.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation is preferred.
- Conservator account and/or probate experience/knowledge is preferred.

ANTICIPATED SALARY RANGE: $25.72 – $39.83 ($53,703 – $83,165 annually).
