Director of SAFE CARES
SAFE CARES seeks a full-time director. CARES stands for Collaboration, Advocacy, Response and Engagement for Survivors of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation. The CARES Director oversees a 24 hour advocate lead response team, a drop in center, case management and counseling services.

- The SAFE Alliance grew out of the courageous work of the Center for Battered Women, the Austin Rape Crisis Center, and the Austin Children’s Shelter, all respected, women-led human service agencies created by volunteers and informed by survivors who needed support, safety and justice.
- With over 20 programs and 400 staff, we have been serving the Austin community and beyond for over 30 years.

About this position:
- We need you to fill the role of SAFE CARES Director. This is a Full-Time, Exempt position. We will pay you an annual salary of 50K-56K, commensurate on experience.
Key Duties:
- Work in conjunction with Vice President of Community Services Services to assist with interdepartmental planning, agency communication, and provision of integrated services to survivors of human trafficking.
- Plan, implement, manage, and evaluate The SAFE Alliance’s CARES Human Trafficking programs and services, including: advocacy; drop in center; case-management; and all the support services/administrative functions within those services.
- Ensure that the program meets the SAFE’s mission, vision and guiding principles.
- Manage ambiguity associated with meeting survivor’s needs, while operating efficiently and effectively, meeting performance standards, addressing risk, reducing liability, and addressing the need for individual and communal safety.
- Handle CARES staff hiring, termination, and performance management in collaboration with Human Resources and the Vice President.
- Work on new and renewed funding for the CARES programs, manage and report multiple funding streams, record and report program outcomes and outputs.
- Responsible for recommending annual budgets (operating and capital) for the CARES programs, ensuring that they are operating within budget.
- Represent The SAFE Alliance on community coalitions, statewide task forces, and work groups; inform best practices related to human trafficking survivors; maintain SAFE’s vision and leadership within the these groups/task forces and coalitions
- Effectively engage in outreach to and education for partners, stakeholders and referring entities within the Austin community and Region, including: law enforcement agencies; hospitals; Department of Family and Protective Services; non-profit organizations; juvenile justice system; schools; and homeless service providers.
Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or other human services field; Master’s Degree preferred, with a specialization in understanding individuals and families who have experienced violence
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of violence and abuse, homelessness, human trafficking (both minor and adults, sex trafficking and labor trafficking) and of trauma-based responses.
- Have experience in the child welfare field and victims services field, preferably with survivors of trafficking.
- Have experience working with and managing funding sources, meeting funding requirements, and creating community partnerships.
- Have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the administration of social service programs including: staff supervision; design and development of complex social service programs; risk and security related to the management of survivors with complex trauma and substance abuse; management of governmental grants; and working within collaborations.
- Have a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
- Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well as submit to a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
