Job Description

Security Officers take pride in keeping guests and employees safe. As a Security Officer, you will maintain a high- level of awareness to the actions, behaviors and situations around you. You will address potential emergency situations, threats to the safety and security to guests and/or the building. Security Officers are problem solvers with the ability to anticipate and diffuse potentially difficult situations. Security Officers maintain the highest levels of integrity, courage and service standards.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Act as a first responder during emergency situations and coordinate solutions to same; inform outside agencies, at the direction of a Shift Management, of any unusual or suspicious situations on property.
  • Operate company vehicles as directed to do so.
  • Execute legal, defensive tactics, first aid, CPR/AED responses.
  • Utilize defensive tactics and handcuffing techniques, when applicable.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the facility and special events on property, and other Cosmopolitan venues in order to advise guests and fellow employees whenever possible.
  • Ensure safe transportation of moneys; assisting in the opening and closing of the gaming tables to include Drops and Fills.
  • Rotate assigned stations, including Gaming areas as assigned.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures of employee conduct and rules/regulations in the employee handbook for application when violations are observed or brought to their attention.
  • Interact with guests and employees in a positive, professional manner while maintaining the awareness of safety & security.
  • Follow Company Brand Standards for Guest Service.
  • Gather pertinent information regarding security related incidents involving guests, employees and/or the facility and relays it appropriately.
  • Escort and observe guests and employees, to ensure their safety and protection; identify potential safety hazards and report to the appropriate individual, for proper resolution.
  • Become familiar with hazardous materials used on property, and all applicable laws, rules and regulations governing same.
  • Facilitate the flow of information throughout the property, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Maintain and securely retain a series of keys during their shift, accessing locked areas as necessary.
  • Request identification from all persons who appear to be under the age of twenty-one, to ensure compliance with state and federal gaming and alcohol regulations.
  • Drive company vehicles as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean DMV record.
  • Provide a current Nevada Motor Vehicle Report to the department leader and Risk Management every 6 months
  • Immediately notify department leader of any changes to the Nevada Driver’s License status.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • At least one year of experience in law enforcement, military or gaming security.
  • Possess and maintain a Nevada Driver’s License.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Polished appearance and demeanor.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and efficiency of use of defensive tactics and handcuffing techniques.
  • Ability to successfully attend and pass all recurring mandatory legal, defensive tactics, first aid, CPR/AED response simulation as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to satisfactorily pass a security officer training academy.
  • Proven ability to defuse a negative and/or volatile situation.
  • Ability to coordinate with/assist in investigations that involve outside agencies and first responders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • At least 21 years of age.

Preferred:

  • Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Hospitality or related field.
  • At least two years’ experience in law enforcement, military or gaming security experience.
  • Previous experience in a large, luxury resort setting.

  • Work is performed in an office environment and throughout the property in all locations.
  • Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
  • Constant contact with executives, department management, applicants, employees and guests is necessary.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility.
  • Prolonged telephone usage.
  • Bending and reaching.
  • Transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 100 lbs. May be required to physically remove incapacitated guests from the resort. This may require you to push, pull, drag or carry up to 100 lbs of “dead weight”
  • May be required to provide lifesaving efforts such as CPR, utilization of an AED and/or maintain physical control of a subject. This may require you to squat, bend or kneel for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to physically run from one side of the resort to the opposite end, utilize stairs, etc. to address critical situations.
  • Eye/hand coordination.
  • Use of standard office equipment.
  • Basic math.
  • Ability to push and/or pull file cabinet drawers weighing up to 5 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
  • Ability to comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS) and other instructions.
