GENERAL DESCRIPTION

To develop a swimming pool of part-time deputies who will deal with an “as required” basis. Task tasks might consist of however aren’t restricted to prisoner transport, court security or shift operate in the prison. Existing Standard Jailor and/or Police accreditation through DCJS needed.

GENERAL DECLARATION OF DUTIES – Court Providers

Carries out regular protective services operate in preserving security of the Roanoke County Court House Complex. Procedures entrants through the security checkpoints; browsing courtrooms and other places for contraband or security dangers; offers escort and guidance of prisoners present in the court house; keep logs; serve and process civil and criminal documents. Carries out other responsibilities as designated.

GENERAL DECLARATION OF DUTIES – Corrections

Carries out regular protective services operate in supplying care and keeping security for prisoners at the County Prison. Procedures prisoners into custody; carries out security checks of prisoners in appointed locations; carries out cell look for contraband; evaluations inbound and outbound mail; transportations prisoners, takes care of prisoner requirements; keep logs; monitors cleaning up information; and keeps track of people going into and leaving the prison. Carries out other tasks as designated.

VITAL TASK FUNCTIONS

IMPORTANT TASK FUNCTIONS – Court Solutions

  • Procedures all entrants of the court house through the security screening procedure.
  • Carries out regular security checks of prisoners in designated locations.
  • Maintain control of the courtroom to avoid any disturbances
  • Secures judges, court authorities, witnesses, jurors and all other individuals in the courtroom from any hostile acts directed at them.
  • Supervise, escort/transport, limit and manage detainees.
  • Correctly procedure detainees, postponed confinement individuals & juveniles.
  • Effectively serve Civil & Bad guy documents.
  • Carries out exterior and interior security searches of the court house.

NECESSARY TASK FUNCTIONS – Corrections

  • Procedures prisoners into custody of the County Prison, searches detainees, organizes personal effects, offers clothes, bed linen, consuming utensils, institutional guidelines and guidelines.
  • Carries out regular security checks of prisoners in designated locations.
  • Keeps log of prisoner motion throughout the center.
  • Performs regular cell look for ownership of contraband.
  • Evaluations inbound and outbound mail.
  • Keeps track of individuals getting in and leaving prison.
  • Monitors cleansing information for designated locations.
  • Transportations prisoners as needed.
  • Takes care of unique requirements of prisoners.

REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES

Education

Needed: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Preferred: Some experience in public and individual contact work ideally associated to police activities.

Accreditations/ Licenses

Needed: Legitimate Virginia chauffeur’s license with great driving record.

Understanding, Abilities and Capabilities

  • General understanding of civil and criminal law, court treatments and guidelines, guidelines and treatments of the County Prison; and of organizations and management practices consisting of the care and custody of detainee.
  • Capability to handle and deal with social relationships; follow oral and written directions; and to prepare records and reports.

Extra Requirements

Should be a person of the United States, twenty-one (21) years of age, and finish the minimum training requirements needed by the Virginia Department of Wrongdoer Justice Providers.
