The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) serves as regulatory body for all gambling activities across the state of Illinois. The IGB administers a regulatory and tax collection system for the expanding casino gambling, video gaming and sport wagering in Illinois. We are committed to preserving the integrity of the Illinois gaming industry.

Essential Functions
25% 1. Plans, assigns and reviews the activities of subordinate Gaming Special Agents and State Police personnel assigned to a gaming unit.
20% 2. Serves as working supervisor; assigns and reviews work; provides guidance and training to assigned staff.
10% 3. Assists the Gaming Unit Supervisor in preparing and disseminating gaming unit work schedules for each of the work periods for the assigned shifts of each gaming day by making adjustments to scheduling when agents requests off, works overtime, etc. and/or prepares the work schedules as directed by the Gaming Unit Supervisor.
10% 4. Meets and confers with riverboat casino or video gaming establishment management on all matters pertinent to gaming operations and compliance with the Illinois Gambling Act, Video Gaming Act, Sports Wagering Act, Illinois Gaming Board Administrative Rules and internal control systems.
10% 5. Monitors and investigates incidents involving major fluctuations in normal live games win percentages.
5% 6. Conducts on-the-job training of new agents assigned to the shift; instructs new agents on writing reports, EGD testing, resolving patron complaints, conducting audits to ensure internal control compliance, etc.
5% 7. Schedules assigned agents for required annual training courses (firearm qualifications, first responder, etc.
5% 8. Compiles and prepares a variety of comprehensive activity, management and time analysis reports and forwards to Gaming Unit Supervisor as requested.
5% 9. Serves as supervisor in absence of the assigned Gaming Unit Supervisor keeping central office apprised of any information or significant events that occur in the absence of the Gaming Unit Supervisor.
5% 10. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college preferably with coursework in law enforcement, criminal justice, pre-law, business administration or a related field.
- Requires four years progressively responsible professional experience as a Gaming Senior Special Agent in enforcement or investigations with the Gaming Board.
- Requires current certification as a sworn peace officer.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires working knowledge of law enforcement investigatory concepts and techniques.
- Requires working knowledge of laws, regulations and pertinent criminal statutes.
- Requires working knowledge of agency programs and service objectives, activities and operational systems, policies and procedures.
- Requires working knowledge of staff utilization and employee motivation.
- Requires ability to develop and manage a supportive agency program.
- Requires ability to analyze administrative problems and adopt an effective course of action.
- Requires ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Conditions of Employment
- At the time of hire, applicants must satisfy these conditions*:
- a) have graduated from an approved state police academy program;
- b) possess sufficient physical fitness to pass the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report test, or POWER test; and
- c) have passed an approved firearms qualification course and have a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card.
- These standards have been set forth in the Illinois Police Training Act (50 ILCS 705/) and the Peace Officer Firearms Training Act (50 ILCS 710/). These standards have been authorized and approved and by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board and the Illinois State Police Merit Board. More detailed information on testing and methods of verification may be found by contacting those state agencies or the Illinois Gaming Board.
- Employees will be required to periodically demonstrate continuing physical proficiency as defined by departmental policies sufficient to carry out the duties of the classification.
- Employees will be required to periodically qualify with appropriate firearms as defined by departmental policy and applicable law including skill and in the use, care and safety of such weapons.
- Employees will be required to periodically complete continued professional training as required by law or by department policies and procedures.
- Requires ability to perform shift work including weekends and holidays.
- Requires possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license and ability to travel..
