Description

The provides specialized billing, accounting, and debt collection services for the Department of Social and Health Services. We are looking for a Revenue Agent 4 who will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day team activities, supervising assignment of work and staff development, and act as a subject matter expert on operational matters for the Estate Recovery Unit in Olympia, WA.

Share your collection and negotiation experience with the providing leadership to the Estate Recovery Unit that performs collection activities related to overpayments to clients. You will utilize professional collection techniques supported by State and Federal laws, debt determination regulations and utilize your detailed understanding of program goals and regulations.

Some of what you’ll do:

  • Direct and ensure uniform application of revenue statutes, regulations, and policies
  • Manage the statewide collection program and quality assurance review process
  • Coordinate training to meet staff needs
  • Collaboratively establish unit workload, quality standards, and expectations; clearly communicate team expectations
  • Use team data to develop and codify team processes and procedures, lead efforts to improve existing processes and procedures, and coach staff for efficiency, improvement, and development
  • Troubleshoot and assist staff in resolving complex collection scenarios or problems
  • Represent DSHS’s interest in adjudicative proceedings regarding the establishment and collection of debt
  • Approve settlements, write-offs, or compromises
  • Manage Monthly collections stat and hold staff accountable for meeting set goals and expectations

What we are looking for:

  • A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in business administration, accounting, public administration, police science, economics, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, law, or a closely related field, AND 5 years of work experience in the collection of civil or criminal debt, law enforcement, personal or corporate finance, accounting or bookkeeping, or investigations involving personal background, business practices or fraud
  • Professionals who have 3 years of experience as a WA State Revenue Agent 3.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, policies and decision affecting the legal collection of funds
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff in meeting mission goals is strongly preferred
  • Supervising debt collection experience is preferred
  • Additional qualifying experience may substitute year-for-year for the education
