TASK SUMMARY:

Monitors, guides, and/or advises the work projects of secondary personnel. Carries out as shift manager of a system or program. Maintains custody and security of youth transgressors and preserves order in youth detention.

TASK PARTICULAR TASKS:

  • Monitors and prepares work of designated personnel.
  • Finishes administrative documentation, the preparation and upkeep of records, types, and reports.
  • Establishes work and security treatments.
  • Implements guidelines, guidelines, and state laws essential for control and management of youth transgressors and the upkeep of public security.
  • Manages and trains dogs for tracking, search and rescue, guard task, detection of contraband. Inspects, stocks, preserves physical control of, logs secrets, tools, weapons and associated devices.
  • Preserves understanding of, abide by, and impose all institutional policies, guidelines, treatments, and guidelines.
  • Keeps order, discipline, and security within appointed locations in accordance with appropriate guidelines, guidelines, policies and laws.
  • Might perform hearings of disciplinary offenses. Observes conduct and habits of youth culprits to avoid disruptions and gets away.
  • Supplies assistance in training, picking, and orienting secondary correctional security personnel. Reads and evaluations culprit details to recognize problems that need unique attention. Reacts to emergency situations.

MINIMUM CREDENTIALS:

High school diploma or GED AND P.O.S.T. accreditation AND One year of experience needed at the lower level Correctional Sergeant (PSP064) or position equivalent.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

Choice will be provided to candidates who, in addition to satisfying the minimum credentials, have several of the following:

  • Existing and legitimate accreditation as a Juvenile Correctional Officer by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council;-LRB-
  • Several years of experience in a Juvenile Justice environment;-LRB-
  • Conclusion of several years of college
