Position is assigned to the Eastern Region Maintenance Yard and located in Kinston, North Carolina. The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine, preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and repairs ensuring that assigned systems within a Juvenile Justice Facility and support buildings are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. Position is required to perform at the Journeyman level in at least one of three trades such as carpentry, cabinet making, roofing, or painting and at or near Journey level in others. Position requires multiple trade skills that will allow him/her to perform multiple maintenance tasks. He/she will be required to perform general maintenance trades such as carpentry, roofing, painting and plumbing. The position will also be responsible for some grounds maintenance and should have a working knowledge of herbicides and pesticides. He/she will be expected to supervise the work of semi-skilled and unskilled labor to assist him/her in completing assigned tasks and provide support to other staff members performing trade skills during preventive maintenance or other duties assigned by the supervisor as deemed necessary.

Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:
- Documented knowledge of journey level skills in at least 1 or more of these trades. (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Kitchen Equipment)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification: May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
