What you will be doing!
The primary purpose of this position is to modernize agency systems. This position is a member of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Modernization project technical team, which is responsible for development, enhancement, and maintenance of OED’s UI business systems. This position ensures technical decisions and direction are in alignment with the agency’s architectural and data strategy and achieve OED’s long term technology goals. In this position you will:
- Configure Oregon-specific business objects and develop queries for letters, reports, and other Unemployment Insurance business requirements within the core product for the modernized solution.
- Configure application solutions and extend functionality by constructing modules and application programing interfaces (APIs) that enable communications to occur between new and existing internal and partner systems.
- Coordinate and or participate in the resolution of complex application problems with contractors.
- Serve as liaison to software vendors and other IT divisions for problem resolution and technical support purposes.
- Identify potential configuration and programming issues and solutions that may include IT best practices, procedures, and approaches to customer service.
- Respond to technical problems referred by agency management or staff users regarding software problems, responsible for troubleshooting, isolating, and resolving issues.
- Conduct application architecture design sessions and perform code reviews

What we are looking for!
Experience and demonstrated proficiency in the following:
- Experience coding in C# or Visual Basic .NET
- Experience configuring web-based application components
- Experience reading, writing, and troubleshooting Microsoft SQL queries
- Analytical, problem solving, and creating thinking skills
- Communication skills to communicate with other developers, business analysts, contractors, and management
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and switch between tasks quickly
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently as needed
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Six (6) years of information systems experience in Information Technology application development: coding in C# or vb.NET
- OR An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience in Information Technology application development: coding in C# or vb.NET
- OR A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) year of information systems experience in Information Technology application development coding in C# or vb.NET
- OR A Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
