The objective of Correctional Managed Care is to deal with the health care requirements of underserved client populations within the Texas Department of Lawbreaker Justice and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.

TASK SUMMARY:

Carries out technical responsibilities in the field of client care and takes part in the basic healthcare of clients by supplying help with tidiness, grooming, rest, activity, nutrition, and circulation of medications. Helps the expert personnel in preserving a safe restorative environment.

NECESSARY TASK FUNCTIONS:

  • Gathers, reports and files information: important indications, height and weight, consumption and output, pulse oximetry, and gather specimens.
  • Helps with client activities and care as designated by the charge nurse/designee as shown by the client’s strategy of care.
  • Attends to client’s individual health; helps with persistent injury care; helps with feeding; and ambulates, positions, and turns clients with modified movement.
  • Helps in the upkeep of a safe, comfy environment; obtains, shops and keeps drug store and nursing medications and materials.
  • Distributes and files client’s medications, both in basic population and administrative partition, from filled prescriptions, following Title 40, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 95, “Licensing Standards for Medical Aides Handbook”.
  • Makes sure drug space security, changed center working drug stocks, and keeps the maintenance of center drug space and pharmaceutical devices.
  • Gets in medication compliance into the drug store computer system.
  • Takes part in in-service orientation and continuing education classes. Obtains 40 hours of continuing education/in-service hours on a yearly basis to fulfill ACA requirements.
  • Follows internal controls and reporting structures.
  • Carries out associated tasks as needed.

DEVICES:

Basic client care products, devices and mechanical gadgets.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment is situated within the boundaries of a jail, prison or juvenile detention. Security clearance is needed; pre-employment drug screening is likewise needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school or GED equivalent. Existing Texas Licensed Medication Assistant license.

The is a non-benefit eligible, per hour paid position restricted to an optimum of 19 hours each week.
